What Are the Differences Between 1/2" AR500 and AR550 Steel Targets?

Many features separate 1/2" AR500 steel targets from 1/2" AR550 steel targets. While both types of targets are strong, durable, and impact-resistant, AR550 steel targets are slightly harder, thereby allowing them to withstand punishment from high-speed rifles slightly more effectively than 1/2" AR500 targets. 

Generally speaking, 1/2" AR500 targets are great for 9mm, .45, and standard rifle rounds, while 1/2" AR550 targets are better for any rifle rounds beyond that.
