Hardox® 1/2" AR550 9"x15" Steel Gong Target

The Hardox® 1/2" AR550 9"x15" Steel Gong Target is a standalone rifle and handgun target built for shooters who want increased resistance to pitting from higher-velocity impacts. The 9"x15" plate is CNC laser-cut from Swedish-made 1/2" Hardox® AR550 steel and includes a mounting hole sized for 1/2" carriage-bolt hardware. The finished Shoot Steel target is manufactured in the United States.

Hardox® AR550 is harder than AR500 and better resists surface deformation and pitting, particularly when used with higher-velocity rifle cartridges. The 9"x15" target can be mounted to a compatible steel post, 2x4 or other stable structure using appropriate 1/2" hardware. This target is rated for all centerfire handguns and rifles through .300 Win Mag when used at the proper minimum distance.

Mounting

The target is designed to accept 1/2" carriage-bolt hardware and can be installed on a compatible steel post, 2x4 or other stable target structure. Make sure the plate is securely mounted and positioned correctly before shooting.

Safety and Usage

This 1/2" Hardox® AR550 target is rated for all centerfire handguns and rifles through .300 Win Mag when used at the proper minimum shooting distance.

Minimum shooting distances:

• Centerfire handgun: 10 yards minimum
• Rifle under 2,800 fps muzzle velocity: 100 yards minimum
• Rifle over 2,800 fps muzzle velocity: 150 yards minimum
• Long-action rifles: 200 yards minimum
• Increase distance any time you observe pitting or cratering

Always shoot perpendicular to the target face. Use quality eye and ear protection. Inspect the plate and mounting hardware before every session and replace any plate that shows cratering or severe pitting. Repaint regularly to track impacts and monitor surface health. No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition.

To qualify for warranty coverage, targets must be used and maintained in accordance with Shoot Steel safety and distance guidelines, including:

• No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition
• Minimum recommended distances observed at all times
• Target mounted to Shoot Steel specifications
