The 8-Target Polish Plate Rack | 3/8" AR500 Reactive Steel Target System combines eight 8" falling paddles with a rotating horizontal beam for fast, unpredictable handgun drills. Each paddle is CNC laser-cut from domestic 3/8" AR500 steel and mounted using Shoot Steel's Quick-Tune Spring System. Choose the Polish Rack Only configuration or add the 28" Pepper Popper with Base for a triggered stage-start setup. Made in the USA.
The 72" wide by 48" tall system uses a precision-machined rotating shaft with dual sealed flange bearings for smooth movement. It begins each stage from a fixed position and can be started manually or connected to the optional Pepper Popper using rope, paracord or similar cordage. As each paddle falls, the weight distribution changes, altering the direction and speed of the rotating beam and forcing the shooter to continually adjust timing and target transitions. The complete Polish Plate Rack weighs 135 lbs. and uses a bolt-together design for transport and storage.

Assembly
The Polish Plate Rack uses a bolt-together modular design and includes the required mounting hardware and assembly instructions. After assembly, verify the base, upright, rotating beam, bearings, springs, counterweights, paddles and all hardware are secure and operating properly before shooting.
The rack begins from a fixed starting position. Start it manually or connect it to the optional 28" Pepper Popper with Base using rope, paracord or similar cordage. When the Pepper Popper falls, it can release the rack and begin the rotating sequence.
Safety and Usage
- Designed for centerfire handgun ammunition only
- Maximum rated muzzle velocity: 1,500 fps
- Maximum rated impact energy: 500 ft-lbs
- Rifle ammunition is not permitted
Always shoot perpendicular to the target face. Use quality eye and ear protection. Inspect the paddles, bearings, springs, hardware, counterweights and structural components before every session. Replace any component showing excessive wear, cratering, severe pitting or structural damage. Repaint the paddles regularly to improve visibility and monitor surface health. No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition.
FAQs
What is a Polish Plate Rack?
The Polish Plate Rack combines eight falling plates with a rotating horizontal beam. Each successful hit removes weight from the system, changing the balance and causing the remaining targets to move at different speeds and directions.
What are the current configuration options?
Choose the Polish Rack Only or add the 28" Pepper Popper with Base for a second reactive target that can be used to trigger the rack's movement.
What do the counterweights do?
The removable counterweights provide additional rotational momentum when the rack begins moving. As they release, the balance changes again, adding another transition before movement is controlled by the remaining paddles.
What is the Quick-Tune Spring System?
The proprietary Quick-Tune Spring System allows the release tension of the paddles to be adjusted for different handgun loads.
What ammunition is the Polish Plate Rack rated for?
The system is designed for centerfire handgun ammunition with a maximum rated muzzle velocity of 1,500 fps and maximum impact energy of 500 ft-lbs. Rifle ammunition is not permitted.
How large is the Polish Plate Rack?
The assembled system measures 72" wide by 48" tall and weighs 135 lbs.
Does it break down for transportation?
Yes. The bolt-together modular design allows the system to be disassembled into smaller components for transportation and storage.
Does this target ship painted?
No. Shoot Steel targets ship unpainted. White target paint provides strong contrast downrange and makes it easier to monitor impacts and target condition.
Is this product made in the United States?
Yes. This product is manufactured in the United States using American steel.
Do you warranty your products?
