8" AR500 Steel Gong Target with Rubber Chain Package

The 8" AR500 Steel Gong Target with Rubber Chain Package combines one 8" round gong target with an 8" rubber chain mounting kit for a complete hanging target setup. The gong is CNC laser-cut from domestic 1/2" AR500 steel and made in the USA. The package includes the rubber chain, 5/16" quick links and 1/2" bolt hardware needed to mount the target. Stand and paint are sold separately.

The rubber chain allows the gong to swing on impact while absorbing some of the energy before it reaches the mounting points. The 1/2" AR500 target is rated for all centerfire handguns and rifle cartridges through .338 Lapua Magnum at the proper minimum shooting distances. The included 5/16" quick links are not compatible with Shoot Steel T-Post Gong Hangers. For a T-post setup, use the 15" Grade 100 Steel Chain Gong Mounting Kit instead.

Assembly

Attach the 8" rubber chain to the gong using the included 1/2" bolt hardware, then connect the chain to a compatible stand using the included 5/16" quick links. Do not use the included quick links with Shoot Steel T-Post Gong Hangers. Use the 15" Grade 100 Steel Chain Gong Mounting Kit for those hangers.

Safety and Usage

Minimum shooting distances:

• Centerfire handgun: 10 yards minimum
• Rifle at or below 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 100 yards minimum
• Rifle above 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 200 yards minimum
• .338 Lapua Magnum: 200 yards minimum
• Increase distance any time you observe pitting on the target face

Always shoot perpendicular to the target face. Use at least Grade 5 mounting hardware. Use quality eye and ear protection. Inspect the target, rubber chain, quick links and mounting hardware before every session. Replace any plate that shows cratering or severe pitting and replace worn or damaged mounting components before continuing. Repaint regularly to track impacts and monitor surface health. No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition.

No. Shoot Steel targets ship unpainted. White and bright orange provide strong contrast downrange for tracking hits.

• Normal wear, pitting, cratering and target face degradation are not covered

To qualify for warranty coverage, targets must be used and maintained in accordance with Shoot Steel safety and distance guidelines, including:

• No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition
• Minimum recommended distances observed at all times
• Target mounted to Shoot Steel specifications
