1/2" AR500 Gong Bundle | 4" and 6"

The 1/2" AR500 Gong Bundle includes four compact steel gong targets: two 4" gongs and two 6" gongs. The two-size setup is built for precision shooting, giving you a smaller 4" strike face for demanding accuracy work and a 6" target for faster drills and transitions. All four targets are CNC laser-cut from domestic 1/2" AR500 steel and rated for all centerfire handguns and rifle cartridges up to .338 Lapua Magnum when used at the specified minimum shooting distances. Targets ship unpainted without chain or mounting hardware. Made in the USA.

The 4" and 6" combination gives you multiple levels of difficulty within the same range setup. Use the 4" plates for tighter shot-placement drills and longer-distance challenges, then transition to the 6" plates when you want a larger strike face for faster shooting. CNC laser-cutting helps control the heat-affected zone around each plate's perimeter and preserve the hardness of the AR500 steel.

For hanging hardware, the T-Post Gong Hangers work with two T-posts and chain. Pair them with the 15" Steel Chain Mounting Kit or the 8" Rubber Chain Gong Target Mounting Kit to complete your setup.

Safety and Usage

Minimum shooting distances:

• Centerfire handgun: 10 yards minimum
• Rifle at or below 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 100 yards minimum
• Rifle above 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 200 yards minimum
• .338 Lapua Magnum: 200 yards minimum
• Increase distance any time you observe pitting on the target face

Always shoot perpendicular to the target face. Use at least Grade 5 mounting hardware. Use quality eye and ear protection. Inspect plates before every session and replace any plate that shows cratering or severe pitting. Repaint regularly to track impacts and monitor surface health. No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition.

FAQs

What calibers are these targets rated for?
The targets are rated for all centerfire handguns at a minimum of 10 yards and rifle cartridges up to .338 Lapua Magnum at a minimum of 200 yards. For rifles at or below 3,000 fps muzzle velocity, 100 yards is the minimum starting distance. Increase distance any time you observe pitting on the target face.

Why are 4" and 6" targets included in the same bundle?
The two sizes let you change the difficulty of your drills without changing target systems. The 4" gongs create a smaller strike face for precision work, while the 6" gongs give you more target area for faster transitions and follow-up shots.

What hanging hardware do I need?
Chain, hangers and mounting hardware are not included. The T-Post Gong Hangers work with two T-posts and chain. Pair them with the 15" Steel Chain Mounting Kit or the 8" Rubber Chain Gong Target Mounting Kit for a complete hanging setup.

Why are the targets CNC laser-cut instead of plasma-cut?
CNC laser-cutting provides more precise control of the heat-affected zone than plasma cutting, helping preserve hardness around the plate edge while creating a clean, consistent perimeter.

Does this bundle ship painted?
No. All ShootSteel targets ship unpainted. White and bright orange offer the best contrast downrange for tracking hits.

Is this product made in the United States?
Yes. These targets are manufactured in the United States from domestic AR500 steel.

To qualify for warranty coverage, targets must be used and maintained in accordance with ShootSteel safety and distance guidelines, including:

• No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition
• Minimum recommended distances observed at all times
• Target mounted to ShootSteel specifications
