1/2" AR500 Steel Round Target

The 1/2" AR500 Steel Round Target is a compact steel shooting target available in 5" and 8" diameters. Choose the 5" target for a smaller strike face and more demanding precision drills, or the 8" target for increased visibility and a larger hit zone. Each plate is CNC laser-cut from 1/2" AR500 steel and rated for centerfire handguns and rifle cartridges up to .308 Win when used at the specified minimum shooting distances. The 5" target weighs 2.5 lbs. and the 8" target weighs 7 lbs. Manufactured in the United States using U.S. AR500 steel.

The round target can be paired with compatible T-post, static hanger and stand systems depending on your range setup. CNC laser-cutting helps control the heat-affected zone around the target perimeter and preserve hardness at the plate edge. The target ships unpainted so it can be repainted as needed for visibility and hit tracking.

Safety and Usage

Minimum shooting distances:

• Centerfire handgun: 10 yards minimum
• Rifle at or below 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 100 yards minimum
• Rifle above 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 200 yards minimum
• Maximum rated cartridge: .308 Win
• Increase distance any time you observe pitting on the target face

Always shoot perpendicular to the target face. Use quality eye and ear protection. Inspect the target and mounting system before every session and replace any plate that shows cratering or severe pitting. Repaint regularly to track impacts and monitor surface health. No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition.

Should I choose the 5" or 8" target?
Choose the 5" target when you want a smaller strike face for precision-focused drills. Choose the 8" target when you want a larger aiming area and increased visibility downrange.

What calibers is this target rated for?
The target is rated for centerfire handguns and rifle cartridges up to .308 Win. Handguns require a minimum distance of 10 yards. Rifles at or below 3,000 fps muzzle velocity require at least 100 yards, while rifles above 3,000 fps require at least 200 yards. Increase distance if pitting is observed.

How much do the targets weigh?
The 5" round target weighs 2.5 lbs. and the 8" round target weighs 7 lbs. Both are made from 1/2" AR500 steel.

What mounting systems can I use?
The target can be paired with compatible Shoot Steel mounting systems, including the T-Post Hanger, Static Hanger and T-Post Stand. Mounting equipment is sold separately.

Does this target ship painted?
No. All Shoot Steel targets ship unpainted. Shoot Steel Target Paint can be used to improve visibility and make impacts easier to track.

• Normal wear, pitting, cratering and target face degradation are not covered

To qualify for warranty coverage, targets must be used and maintained in accordance with Shoot Steel safety and distance guidelines, including:

• No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition
• Minimum recommended distances observed at all times
• Target mounted to Shoot Steel specifications
