Two targets. Two hangers. Zero excuses. The 2-Pack Hardox® ½" AR550 Steel Target and T-Post Hanger System gives you a complete, range-ready setup that drops onto any standard steel T-post in seconds. Choose either the 12" x 20" silhouette (28 lbs.) for maximum target area or the 9" x 15" (16 lbs.) for fast portability. Both options ship as a matched pair with two (2) of our patented T-post hangers so you can stage multiple positions without running back to reset.

AR550 is harder than AR500. That hardness resists the pitting and cratering that shortens plate life, especially with .223/5.56 and high-velocity hunting loads. Flatter surfaces stay flatter longer, which means safer splatter angles and more predictable round-to-round feedback. Every plate is CNC laser-cut to keep the heat-affected zone tight, preserve edge hardness and deliver a clean perimeter that plasma-cut targets simply cannot match. Mount it, paint it, shoot it, and come back tomorrow for more. Manufactured in the United States from premium Swedish Hardox® steel.

Distance and Use Guidelines:

• Centerfire handgun: 10 yards minimum.
• Centerfire rifle up to .308 / under 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 100 yards minimum; increase distance if you observe pitting.
• Centerfire rifle over 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 200 yards minimum; increase distance if you observe pitting.
• Always shoot perpendicular to the target face. Maintain a fresh coat of paint and replace damaged posts immediately.

Safety and Usage

Minimum shooting distances:

• Handgun: 10 yards or greater
• Rifle at or below 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 100 yards or greater; increase distance if pitting is observed
• Rifle above 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 200 yards or greater; increase distance if pitting is observed

Always use quality eye and ear protection. Inspect plates before every session. Replace any plate that shows cratering, severe pitting or structural damage. Repaint regularly to track impacts and monitor surface health.

FAQs

Why choose AR550 over AR500?
AR550 is harder than AR500, which means it resists pitting from fast rifle rounds and extends plate service life. The difference is especially noticeable with 5.56/.223 and other high-velocity loads that will pit AR500 prematurely. The ½" thickness compounds that durability for serious rifle use.

Will these hangers fit my existing T-posts?
In most cases, yes. The hanger is designed for standard steel T-posts available at farm, ranch and hardware stores nationwide. Because post profiles vary slightly by brand and manufacturer, we recommend bringing the hanger to the store to confirm fit before purchasing posts. T-post not included.

What calibers is this system rated for?
Centerfire handguns and centerfire rifles up to .308 at the distances listed above. For muzzle velocities above 3,000 fps, increase your distance to protect the plate surface and keep splatter patterns safe.

What is the advantage of CNC laser-cutting over plasma cutting?
Laser-cutting tightly controls the heat-affected zone at the cut edge, which preserves the steel's hardness all the way to the perimeter. Plasma cutting introduces more heat, which can soften the edge and reduce plate life. The result is a cleaner cut, a truer edge and a longer-lasting target.

Do the targets ship painted?
No. Targets ship bare steel so you can apply the color you prefer. White and bright orange provide the best downrange visibility.

How fast is the setup?
The hanger drops onto a T-post in seconds with no tools. The 28 lb. and 16 lb. plates are sized to be carried and positioned by one person, making solo range setup and takedown fast and repeatable.

Is this product made in the United States?
Yes. Our targets are manufactured in the United States using premium Swedish Hardox® AR550 steel.

• Target plates: covered against manufacturing and material defects for 90 days from date of delivery
• Welds: covered for 1 year from date of delivery
• Coverage includes weld integrity, materials and workmanship

Commercial and Range Use

• All components: covered against manufacturing and material defects for 90 days from date of purchase
• Coverage includes weld integrity, materials and workmanship
• Normal wear, pitting, cratering and target face degradation from high-volume or high-impact use are not covered

To qualify for warranty coverage, targets must be used and maintained in accordance with ShootSteel safety and distance guidelines, including:

• No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition
• Minimum recommended distances observed at all times
• Targets mounted to ShootSteel specifications
