Safety Information

No matter which AR500 silhouette targets you opt to invest in through Shoot Steel, safety is always incredibly important any time you’re training with them. More specifically, you must maintain a safe distance from targets to protect yourself and others.

Here are the minimum shooting distances you must keep in mind:

• Handgun: 10 yards or greater
• Rifle at or below 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 100 yards or greater (increase distance if pitting is observed)
• Rifle above 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 200 yards or greater (increase distance if pitting is observed)
• .338 Lapua Magnum and similar cartridges: 200 yards or greater

When aiming at our gong shooting targets, you must shoot perpendicular to the target face and wear proper eye and ear protection. We also recommended inspecting all targets before use and replacing plates that show cratering, severe pitting, and/or severe structural damage.

Additionally, we suggest repainting our targets routinely to keep them visible and to monitor their condition.
