1/2" AR500 Gong Bundle | 10", 8" & 4" Steel Targets

The 1/2" AR500 Gong Bundle includes three round steel gong targets in 10", 8" and 4" sizes. The three-size setup gives you a natural progression from a larger strike face for warm-up and confirmation work to a compact 4" challenge plate for more demanding shots at distance. All three targets are cut from 1/2" AR500 steel and are rated for all centerfire handgun cartridges and rifle cartridges up to .338 Lapua Magnum when used at the specified minimum shooting distances. Targets ship unpainted without chain or mounting hardware. Made in the USA.

Each gong is CNC laser-cut to minimize the heat-affected zone and help preserve hardness around the plate edge. The combination of 10", 8" and 4" targets works well for mixed-distance shooting, target transitions and precision drills where you want multiple levels of difficulty in the same range setup.

Safety and Usage

Minimum shooting distances:

• Centerfire handgun: 10 yards minimum
• Centerfire rifle at or below 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 100 yards minimum; increase distance if pitting is observed
• Centerfire rifle above 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 200 yards minimum; increase distance if pitting is observed
• Maximum rated cartridge: .338 Lapua Magnum at 200 yards minimum
• Standard lead-core, copper-jacketed ammunition only

Always use quality eye and ear protection. Inspect all gongs and mounting hardware before every session. Replace any plate that shows cratering or severe pitting. Repaint regularly to track impacts and monitor surface health. No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition.

FAQs

Why are three sizes included in one bundle?
The 10", 8" and 4" combination gives you multiple levels of difficulty in one steel target setup. Use the 10" gong for a larger strike face, move to the 8" for standard drills and use the 4" plate when you want to push shot placement and precision at distance.

What calibers are these gongs rated for?
The targets are rated for all centerfire handgun cartridges at a minimum of 10 yards and centerfire rifle cartridges up to .338 Lapua Magnum at a minimum of 200 yards. For rifles at or below 3,000 fps muzzle velocity, 100 yards is the minimum starting distance. Increase distance if pitting is observed.

What is the benefit of the 4" gong?
The 4" gong creates a much smaller strike face than the 8" and 10" targets, making it useful for precision work and more challenging long-range drills where accurate shot placement is the goal.

Why are the gongs CNC laser-cut?
CNC laser-cutting helps control the heat-affected zone around the perimeter of the plate, preserving hardness around the edge while creating a clean, consistent cut.

Do these gongs include chain and mounting hardware?
No. The targets ship without chain, quick links or mounting hardware. Add the 8" Rubber Chain Gong Target Mounting Kit to complete your hanging setup.

Do these gongs ship painted?
No. The gongs ship as bare steel so you can apply your preferred color. White and bright orange provide strong downrange visibility, especially on the smaller 4" plate.

Is this product made in the United States?

• Normal wear, pitting, cratering and target face degradation are not covered

To qualify for warranty coverage, targets must be used and maintained in accordance with ShootSteel safety and distance guidelines, including:

• No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition
• Minimum recommended distances observed at all times
• Target mounted to ShootSteel specifications
