3/8" AR500 Modular Steel Target System | 12"x20"

The 3/8" AR500 Modular Steel Target System | 12"x20" is a tool-free steel target setup that assembles in seconds and breaks down flat for storage and transport. The system includes a 12"x20" target CNC laser-cut from domestic 3/8" AR500 steel and a domestic 1/4" AR400 base with 20" legs. Drop the target into the base slots and stand the system upright. No bolts, welding or tools are required for assembly. Made in the USA.

The base includes both vertical and angled target slots so you can run the plate straight up or tilted forward. The angled position directs splash downward and allows the system to work on uneven or sloped terrain. Stake holes in the base legs allow the stand to be anchored in soft ground. The system is rated for all centerfire handguns and short-action rifles through .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor at the distances listed below.

Assembly

Set the AR400 base on stable ground and insert the 12"x20" target plate into either the vertical or angled slots. No bolts, tools or welding are required. Use the stake holes in the 20" base legs to anchor the system when additional stability is needed on soft ground. The complete system breaks down into flat components for easier transport and storage.

Safety and Usage

Minimum shooting distances:

• Centerfire handgun: 10 yards minimum
• Rifle in the vertical slot at or below 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 100 yards minimum
• .308 Win and similar rifles in the angled slot: 75 yards minimum
• Rifle above 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 200 yards minimum regardless of slot position
• Increase distance any time you observe pitting on the target face

Always shoot perpendicular to the presented target face. Use quality eye and ear protection. Inspect the target plate and base before every session and replace any plate that shows cratering or severe pitting. Make sure the plate is fully seated in the selected slots and the base is stable before shooting. Repaint regularly to track impacts and monitor surface health. No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition.

FAQs

What calibers is the 3/8" AR500 Modular System rated for?
The system is rated for all centerfire handguns and short-action rifles through .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor. Use a 10-yard minimum for centerfire handguns. In the vertical slot, rifles at or below 3,000 fps require at least 100 yards. The angled slot allows .308 Win and similar rifles at 75 yards minimum. Rifles above 3,000 fps require at least 200 yards regardless of slot position.

What is the difference between the vertical and angled slots?
The vertical slot holds the target in a standard upright position. The angled slot tilts the target forward to direct splash downward and can also help the system adapt to uneven or sloped terrain.

How does the tool-free assembly work?
The target plate drops directly into the slots in the AR400 base. No bolts, tools or welding are required to assemble the system.

Can I stake the system into the ground?
Yes. The 20" base legs include stake holes for anchoring the system in soft ground. Stakes are not included.

Does the system break down for transport?
Yes. The target and base separate into flat components, making the system easier to store and transport between range sessions.

Does this system ship painted?
No. The target and base ship unpainted. White and bright orange provide strong contrast downrange for tracking hits.

Is this product made in the United States?
Yes. This system is manufactured in the United States from domestic AR500 and AR400 steel.

• Normal wear, pitting, cratering and target face degradation are not covered

To qualify for warranty coverage, targets must be used and maintained in accordance with Shoot Steel safety and distance guidelines, including:

• No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition
• Minimum recommended distances observed at all times
• Target mounted to Shoot Steel specifications
