The Steel Challenge Outer Limits Package gives you everything you need to run one of the eight official SCSA Steel Challenge classifier stages. Two 18"x24" rectangles and three 12" rounds, all cut from 3/8" AR500 steel to official stage dimensions, paired with Static Target Hangers and Heavy Duty Static Stands that keep targets planted through every string. Outer Limits is unique in the classifier set: it is scored on the best three out of four strings rather than four out of five, putting a premium on consistency when it counts. The mix of large rectangles and 12" rounds at varying distances demands both raw speed and accurate hits. The stands are built for 2x4 uprights so you can cut legs to exact regulation heights for your ground conditions. Ships unpainted. Made in the USA.
Steel Challenge is one of the most accessible practical shooting sports available. Competitors race the clock through strings per stage, dropping their slowest run and combining the best. Speed and accuracy both matter. New to the sport? Learn more at scsa.org or read the official SCSA rulebook. Steel Challenge is a USPSA organization with over 30 years of history.

FAQs
What is Steel Challenge Outer Limits?
Outer Limits is one of eight official SCSA classifier stages and the only stage in the set scored on the best three out of four strings rather than four out of five. Competitors engage each target in sequence, ending on the designated stop plate to stop the timer. The tighter scoring format makes every string count more, rewarding shooters who can stay consistent under pressure across the mix of large rectangle and 12" round targets.
Are these targets legal for SCSA competition?
Yes. The target sizes in this package meet official SCSA specifications for the Outer Limits stage. Consult the SCSA rulebook for full stage layout and target placement requirements.
Why Heavy Duty Static Stands for this package?
The 18"x24" rectangle plates are among the heaviest targets in the Steel Challenge classifier set. The Heavy Duty Static Stands keep every target locked in position through multiple strings of fire so your stage layout stays consistent from run to run without resetting between strings.
Why do the stands use 2x4 uprights?
Cutting 2x4s to length lets you set exact regulation heights regardless of terrain. On uneven ground, fixed-height stands require shimming or repositioning. With 2x4 uprights you cut to the height needed for your specific ground conditions and the targets sit at the correct elevation from the shooting box every time.
How do I protect my 2x4 uprights?
Low hits chew through a 2x4 quickly under sustained fire. Our 20" 2x4 Protector Plates mount directly to the upright and extend its service life significantly.
Does this package ship painted?
No. All ShootSteel targets ship unpainted. White and bright orange offer the best contrast downrange for tracking hits.
Is this product made in the United States?
Yes. These targets are manufactured in the United States from domestic AR500 steel.
Do you warranty your products?
