Hardox® 1/2" AR550 5" Steel Target with Rubber Strap

The Hardox® 1/2" AR550 5" Steel Target with Rubber Strap combines a 5" steel target with an 8" rubber strap mounting system and the hardware needed for installation on a standard 2x4. The target is CNC laser-cut from Swedish-made 1/2" Hardox® AR550 steel and is rated for centerfire handgun and rifle shooting through .338 Lapua Magnum at the proper distance. The finished target system is manufactured in the United States.

The 8" rubber strap allows the target to swing on impact for strong visual and audible feedback. Installation requires drilling through the 2x4 and leaving clearance underneath so the strap can flex freely. Mounting the strap flush against the 2x4 helps keep the target centered while allowing consistent movement. For a dedicated wood setup, use compatible 2x4 gong stand brackets. EMT conduit can also be used for stand legs when paired with compatible 2x4 hybrid brackets and a 2x4 crossmember.

Assembly

Drill a mounting hole through the 2x4 and install the rubber strap using the included hardware. Leave enough clearance beneath the crossmember for the strap to flex without contacting the stand. Position the strap flush against the 2x4 to help limit side-to-side movement while allowing the target to swing freely.

Safety and Usage

This 1/2" Hardox® AR550 target is rated for all centerfire handgun cartridges and rifle cartridges through .338 Lapua Magnum when used at the proper minimum shooting distance.

Minimum shooting distances:

• Centerfire handgun: 10 yards minimum
• Rifle at or below 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 100 yards minimum
• Rifle above 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 200 yards minimum
• .338 Lapua Magnum: 200 yards minimum
• Increase distance any time you observe pitting on the target face

Always shoot perpendicular to the target face. Use quality eye and ear protection. Inspect the target, rubber strap and mounting hardware before every session. Replace any plate that shows cratering or severe pitting and replace any strap or hardware showing cracking, tearing or excessive wear. Repaint regularly to track impacts and monitor surface health. No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition.

• Minimum recommended distances observed at all times
• Target mounted to Shoot Steel specifications
