3/8" AR500 5" Steel Target with Rubber Strap

The 3/8" AR500 5" Steel Target with Rubber Strap is a compact reactive steel target package built for pistol training and short-action rifle use. The package includes a 5" round target CNC laser-cut from domestic 3/8" AR500 steel, an 8" rubber strap and the hardware needed for 2x4 mounting. The rubber strap lets the target move aggressively on impact while helping keep the target aligned for consistent swinging. Made in the USA.

The 8" rubber strap mounts to a standard 2x4 crossmember and requires a drilled mounting hole with enough clearance underneath for the strap to move. Keep the strap positioned flush to the 2x4 to help maintain consistent front-to-back target movement. The supplied strap is suitable for targets up to 1/2" thick and 8" round. This package is rated for all pistol cartridges and short-action rifles through .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor at the proper minimum shooting distances.

Assembly

Drill the required mounting hole in your 2x4 crossmember and install the 8" rubber strap using the included hardware. Leave enough clearance underneath the 2x4 for the rubber strap and target to move freely. Position the strap flush to the 2x4 to help maintain consistent target movement without excessive sideways shifting.

Safety and Usage

Minimum shooting distances:

• Centerfire handgun: 10 yards minimum
• Rifle at or below 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 100 yards minimum
• Rifle above 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 200 yards minimum
• Maximum rated cartridges: .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor
• Increase distance any time you observe pitting on the target face

Always shoot perpendicular to the target face. Use quality eye and ear protection. Inspect the target, rubber strap and mounting hardware before every session. Replace any plate that shows cratering or severe pitting, and replace the rubber strap or hardware if damaged or excessively worn. Repaint regularly to track impacts and monitor surface health. No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition.

How does the rubber strap mount?
The strap mounts to a standard 2x4 crossmember using the included hardware. A mounting hole must be drilled through the 2x4, with enough clearance below the crossmember for the strap to move freely.

What stand can I use?
For an all-wood stand, use the 2x4 Gong Stand Brackets. For a stand using conduit legs and a 2x4 crossmember, use the 2x4 Hybrid Stand Brackets.

Does this target ship painted?
No. Shoot Steel targets ship unpainted. White target paint provides strong contrast downrange for tracking hits.

Is this product made in the United States?
Yes. This product is manufactured in the United States from domestic AR500 steel.

To qualify for warranty coverage, targets must be used and maintained in accordance with Shoot Steel safety and distance guidelines, including:

• No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition
• Minimum recommended distances observed at all times
• Target mounted to Shoot Steel specifications
