The 1/2" XL AR500 Steel Gong Target gives long-range shooters a much larger strike face than a standard gong. Choose a 24"x24" or 22"x30" target, both CNC laser-cut from domestic 1/2" AR500 steel. The oversized profile is easier to see at extended distances and provides clear visual and audible feedback when hit. It is rated for all centerfire handgun cartridges and rifle cartridges up to .338 Lapua Magnum when used at the specified minimum shooting distances. Made in the USA.

Because of its size and weight, this XL steel gong should be paired with a substantial target stand and hanging system. Shoot Steel recommends a Grade 100 15" Steel Chain Mounting Kit with either a 2x4 A-frame or a Rigid Conduit Gong Stand. Assembly

Hang the target from a stand capable of supporting its size and weight. Shoot Steel recommends a Grade 100 15" Steel Chain Mounting Kit with either a 2x4 A-frame or rigid conduit gong stand. For conduit setups, use a 2" EMT crossmember with 1.25" EMT legs for additional support.

Safety and Usage

Minimum shooting distances:

• Centerfire handgun: 10 yards minimum
• Rifle at or below 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 100 yards minimum
• Rifle above 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 200 yards minimum
• .338 Lapua Magnum: 200 yards minimum
• Increase distance any time you observe pitting on the target face

Use standard lead-core, copper-jacketed ammunition. Always shoot perpendicular to the target face. Use quality eye and ear protection. Inspect the plate, chain, stand and mounting hardware before every session and replace any plate that shows cratering or severe pitting. Repaint regularly to track impacts and monitor surface health. No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition.

To qualify for warranty coverage, targets must be used and maintained in accordance with Shoot Steel safety and distance guidelines, including:

• No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition
• Minimum recommended distances observed at all times
• Target mounted to Shoot Steel specifications
