• Centerfire handgun: 10 yards minimum
• Centerfire rifle at or below 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 100 yards minimum (increase distance if pitting is observed)
• Centerfire rifle above 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 200 yards minimum (increase distance if pitting is observed)
• Maximum rated cartridge: .338 Lapua Magnum at 200 yards minimum

You must always use standard lead-core, copper-jacketed ammunition with the 1/2" XL AR500 steel target gong. High-quality eye and ear protection is also required.

Be sure to inspect the 1/2" XL AR500 Gong Steel Target and all of its mounting hardware before every practice session. Replace any plate that begins to show signs of cratering and/or severe pitting, and repaint the gong target regularly to monitor its impacts and overall surface health.
