50 BMG Gong Mounting Kit

The 50 BMG Gong Mounting Kit gives you everything you need to hang big-bore steel targets from the Complete 60" HD Gong Stand. Reinforced rubber chain absorbs the extreme energy transfer generated by 50 BMG, .416 Barrett and .408 CheyTac, reducing shock at the mounting points and letting the target swing freely on impact instead of transferring force into the stand frame. Standard steel chain cannot manage that energy load reliably over time. This kit is compatible with the Complete 60" HD Gong Stand only and includes all hardware needed for a complete two-target hanging setup. Made in the USA.

Safety and Usage

Minimum shooting distances by cartridge:

• 50 BMG ball and brass solids: 300 yards minimum
• 50 BMG AP and API: not rated
• .416 and .408 lead-core: 300 yards minimum
• .416 and .408 brass solids: 400 yards minimum

Never shoot closer than the recommended minimum for your cartridge. Big-bore splash is extremely dangerous at short distances. Always use quality eye and ear protection. Inspect the target, chain and all hardware before every session. Replace any component that shows deformation, cracking or wear. Replace any plate that shows cratering or severe pitting. Repaint regularly to track impacts and monitor surface health.

FAQs

Why rubber chain instead of steel chain for 50 BMG?
Steel chain transfers impact energy directly into the mounting hardware with every hit. At 50 BMG energy levels, that repeated shock fatigues links and hardware significantly faster than at standard rifle distances. Rubber chain absorbs a portion of that energy before it reaches the mounting points, reducing wear on the hardware and extending the service life of the full hanging assembly. It also allows the target to move more freely on impact, which reduces stress on the stand frame itself.

Is this kit compatible with any other stands?
No. This kit is designed specifically for the Complete 60" HD Gong Stand. Other stands are not rated for the weight and impact forces of big-bore shooting and should not be used with 50 BMG or comparable cartridges.

What calibers is this kit rated for?
50 BMG ball and brass solids at 300 yards minimum, .416 Barrett and .408 CheyTac with lead-core at 300 yards minimum, and .416 and .408 brass solids at 400 yards minimum. AP and API rounds are not rated at any distance.

How difficult is setup?
Attach the rubber chains to the stand using the included bolts, Nylock nuts, washers and quick links, then hang your target. No specialized tools required. Setup takes a few minutes.

• No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition
• Minimum recommended distances observed at all times
• Products mounted to ShootSteel specifications
