3/8" AR500 KYL Swinging Target Plate Rack

The 3/8" AR500 KYL Swinging Target Plate Rack is a reactive steel target system built around four graduated target sizes for precision drills, transitions and competitive shooting. The package includes 5", 8", 10" and 12" targets, four 8" rubber strap kits, four speed rack hangers and a pair of 2x4 gong stand brackets. Each target is CNC laser-cut from domestic 3/8" AR500 steel. Add your own standard 2x4 lumber to complete the stand. Made in the USA.

The 8" rubber straps allow each target to swing on impact, creating visible movement and strong audible steel feedback. The self-healing rubber is designed to take direct hits and keep the targets hanging, but straps can be replaced as they wear over time. The 3/8" AR500 targets are rated for all centerfire handguns and short-action rifles through .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor at the proper minimum shooting distances. For a standard 2x4 setup, the recommended crossmember length is 48-60" with four legs between 60-80". If you prefer conduit legs, use the 2x4 Hybrid Gong Stand Brackets, sold separately.

Assembly

Build the stand using a standard 2x4 crossmember and four 2x4 legs with the included gong stand brackets. For the recommended setup, cut the crossmember to 48-60" and the four legs to 60-80". Install the speed rack hangers and rubber strap kits, then hang the four targets in your preferred order. Carriage bolt and spring hardware for the speed rack hangers is not included.

For longer-lasting conduit legs with a 2x4 crossmember, the 2x4 Hybrid Gong Stand Brackets are available separately.

Safety and Usage

Minimum shooting distances:

• Centerfire handgun: 10 yards minimum
• Rifle at or below 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 100 yards minimum
• Rifle above 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 200 yards minimum
• Maximum rated cartridges: .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor
• Increase distance any time you observe pitting on the target face

Always shoot perpendicular to the target face. Use quality eye and ear protection. Inspect the target plates, rubber straps, hangers, brackets, lumber and mounting hardware before every session. Replace any plate that shows cratering or severe pitting and replace worn or damaged straps and hardware before continuing. Repaint regularly to track impacts and monitor surface health. No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition.

Does this target rack ship painted?
No. Shoot Steel targets ship unpainted. White target paint provides strong contrast downrange for tracking hits.

To qualify for warranty coverage, targets must be used and maintained in accordance with Shoot Steel safety and distance guidelines, including:

• No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition
• Minimum recommended distances observed at all times
• Target mounted to Shoot Steel specifications
