The Auto Popper Replacement Legs are a direct-fit accessory for the 12" Colt Speed Popper and 14.5" Prairie Dog Auto Popper. The legs raise both targets approximately 6" off the ground, making them usable in grass, uneven terrain and areas with elevation changes where a base sitting flush to the ground would rock, sink or get obscured by vegetation. For shooters running lighter cartridges, the added height and footprint often provide enough stability that stakes are not required at all.
Each leg is laser-cut from 7-gauge steel and formed to shape for a precise, consistent fit. All mounting hardware is included. The popper target and base are not included and are shown for reference only.

Why use legs instead of staking the base directly to the ground?
Staking the base flat to the ground works well on level, firm surfaces but becomes a problem in grass, soft soil or terrain with any elevation change. The legs raise the entire system 6" so the base clears vegetation, the target presents cleanly at the intended height and the wider footprint adds lateral stability that a flat-staked base does not provide.
Will I still need stakes with the legs installed?
It depends on the cartridge. With lighter handgun and intermediate rifle loads the leg footprint typically provides enough stability without stakes. With heavier or higher-velocity cartridges, staking through the base holes is still recommended to prevent the target from walking under repeated impact.
What gauge steel are the legs made from?
7-gauge steel, laser-cut to shape and formed into the leg profile. The same laser-cutting process used on our target plates keeps edges clean and dimensions consistent across every set.
Do these legs fit any other ShootSteel poppers?
