Steel Target Paint is purpose-built for steel shooting targets and outperforms standard enamel in every way that matters at the range. High resin and solids content means full coverage in a single pass, fast drying so you are back to shooting in seconds, and a matte finish that diffuses sunlight and mirage so you can see your target clearly in any light conditions. Regular repainting lets you track hits visually and monitor surface health over time, which is the single best way to catch pitting or cratering before it becomes a safety issue. Available in white and orange for maximum downrange visibility. Ships to the lower 48 only.
Standard enamel paints carry roughly 40% less paint per can and dry significantly slower. Steel Target Paint is formulated specifically for the high-impact, high-frequency use cycle of steel target shooting. FAQs
Why use Steel Target Paint instead of regular spray paint?
Standard enamel spray paint contains approximately 40% less paint per can than Steel Target Paint and dries significantly slower. Steel Target Paint's high resin and solids content delivers full coverage in a single pass and dries fast enough to get back on the firing line without waiting. The matte finish also diffuses sunlight and reduces mirage, which matters on bright days when glare from a glossy surface can obscure your aiming point.
How does repainting help extend target life?
A fresh coat of paint gives you a clean visual record of every hit in a session. When you can see exactly where rounds are landing, you can identify pitting patterns, monitor surface degradation and catch cratering early before it progresses to a safety concern. Targets without paint accumulate impact damage that is difficult to assess until a problem is obvious.
What colors are available?
White and orange. Both provide strong contrast against bare AR500 and AR550 steel at typical shooting distances. White shows hits most clearly in shaded conditions. Orange provides better visibility in bright sunlight and at longer distances.
Why do I need to invert the can after spraying?
The high resin and solids content that makes this paint cover quickly also makes the valve prone to clogging if paint residue is left in it after use. Inverting the can and giving two or three quick bursts after spraying clears the valve and keeps the can functioning properly through the full life of the product.
Is this product available outside the lower 48 states?
