The 1/2" AR500 9"x15" Silhouette Gong 2-Pack gives you two half-inch AR500 silhouette plates and two T-Post Gong Hanger pairs for a realistic target setup that works straight out of the box. The 9"x15" silhouette presents a taller, narrower strike face than an equivalent round gong, making it a more practical format for defensive shooting drills, competition practice and any session where a realistic target profile matters. Each plate is CNC laser-cut from domestic 1/2" AR500 steel for consistent hardness, clean edges and predictable splatter. Safety and Usage

Minimum shooting distances:

• Centerfire handgun: 10 yards minimum
• Rifle at or below 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 100 yards minimum
• Rifle above 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 200 yards minimum
• .338 Lapua Magnum: 200 yards minimum
• Increase distance any time you observe pitting on the target face

Always shoot perpendicular to the target face. Use at least Grade 5 mounting hardware. Use quality eye and ear protection. Inspect plates before every session and replace any plate that shows cratering or severe pitting. Repaint regularly to track impacts and monitor surface health. No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition.

What calibers are these targets rated for?
All centerfire handguns at 10 yards minimum and rifle cartridges up to .338 Lapua Magnum at 200 yards minimum. For rifles at or below 3,000 fps muzzle velocity, 100 yards minimum is the starting point. Increase distance any time you observe pitting on the target face.

Why a silhouette shape instead of a round gong?
The 9"x15" silhouette presents a realistic upper-body profile that scales well for defensive shooting practice, IDPA and USPSA-style drills and any session where target geometry matters. The taller, narrower shape also rewards vertical shot placement discipline that a round plate of equivalent area does not demand.

Why 1/2" instead of 3/8" for this silhouette?
The extra thickness extends the rated caliber ceiling significantly. At 3/8" these plates are rated to .308 Win. At 1/2" they handle rifle cartridges up to .338 Lapua Magnum at 200 yards, covering a much wider range of rifle use including 7mm Mag, .30-06, .300 Win Mag and .45-70.

What chain and hardware do I need?
Chain and mounting hardware are not included. See the 15" Steel Chain Mounting Kit or the Rubber Chain Mounting Kit for compatible options.

Why CNC laser-cut instead of plasma-cut?
CNC laser-cutting controls the heat-affected zone more precisely than plasma cutting, preserving hardness at the plate edge. The result is a cleaner perimeter, longer plate life and more predictable splatter behavior on impact.

Does this pack ship painted?
No. All ShootSteel targets ship unpainted. White and bright orange offer the best contrast downrange for tracking hits.

Is this product made in the United States?
Yes. These targets are manufactured in the United States from domestic AR500 steel.

• Target mounted to ShootSteel specifications
