3/8" AR500 Static Silhouette Target

The 3/8" AR500 Static Silhouette Target is CNC laser-cut from domestic AR500 steel for a flat strike face, controlled splatter and a clean ring on impact. Three sizes let you match the target to your distance, training goal and target system. Each plate includes a 1/2" carriage bolt mounting hole and works with standard hangers, T-post systems, 2x4 uprights or all-steel stands. Rated for all centerfire handguns and short-action rifles up to .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor at the distances below. Ships unpainted. Made in the USA.

Safety and Usage

Minimum shooting distances:

• Centerfire handgun: 10 yards minimum
• Rifle at or below 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 100 yards minimum
• Rifle above 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 200 yards minimum
• Increase distance any time you observe pitting on the target face

Always shoot perpendicular to the target face. Use at least Grade 5 mounting hardware. Use quality eye and ear protection. Inspect the plate before every session and replace any plate that shows cratering or severe pitting. Repaint regularly to track impacts and monitor surface health. No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition.

What calibers is the 3/8" AR500 silhouette rated for?
All centerfire handguns at 10 yards minimum and short-action rifle cartridges including .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor at 100 yards minimum. For rifles above 3,000 fps muzzle velocity, increase to 200 yards minimum and monitor the plate for pitting after each session.

What size should I choose?
The A-Zone at 5.9"x11" mirrors the IPSC scoring zone and is ideal for precision pistol and carbine drills. The 9"x12" is a versatile mid-size option for standard range distances. The 18"x24" gives you maximum feedback area for longer distances or faster transitions between targets.

What mounting hardware do I need?
Each plate ships with a 1/2" carriage bolt mounting hole. Use at least Grade 5 hardware. The plate mounts to any standard hanger, T-post system or 2x4 upright. See the compatible hanging options listed above.

Why CNC laser-cut instead of plasma-cut?
CNC laser-cutting controls the heat-affected zone more precisely than plasma cutting, preserving hardness at the plate edge. The result is a cleaner perimeter, longer plate life and more predictable splatter behavior on impact.

Does this target ship painted?
No. All ShootSteel targets ship unpainted. White and bright orange offer the best contrast downrange for tracking hits.

Is this product made in the United States?
Yes. This target is manufactured in the United States from domestic AR500 steel.
