The Texas Star Shooting Target | 5-Target AR500 Steel Reactive Target is a rotating steel target system built for handgun training, competition practice and transition drills. The standard configuration includes five 8" paddles mounted to five AR500 arms around a precision-machined hub. Choose 5-Target Only or Add 10-Target Adapter to expand the system with five additional arms and paddles. Manufactured in the United States.
The 8" paddles and target arms are CNC laser-cut from domestic 3/8" AR500 steel. Once a paddle is knocked off, the changing weight distribution rotates the star and forces you to track the remaining targets as their positions change. The Quick-Tune Spring System allows plate-release tension to be adjusted for different handgun loads, while the precision-machined shaft rides on dual sealed flange bearings for smooth rotation.

The Texas Star is designed for centerfire handgun use within the supplied velocity and energy limits.
Minimum shooting distance and ratings:
- Centerfire handgun: 10 yards minimum
- Maximum rated muzzle velocity: 1,500 fps
- Maximum rated impact energy: 500 ft-lbs
- Rifle use is not recommended
Always use quality eye and ear protection. Inspect all paddles, arms, springs, hub, bearings, base and mounting hardware before every session. Replace any component that shows cratering, severe pitting or structural damage. Repaint regularly to track impacts and monitor target condition. No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition.

What is the difference between the two configurations?
The 5-Target Only option includes the standard five-paddle Texas Star. The Add 10-Target Adapter option adds five additional arms and paddles, giving you a 10-target configuration.
What makes the Texas Star reactive?
As paddles are knocked off, the weight distribution of the rotating assembly changes. That causes the remaining targets to move around the hub, forcing you to track changing target positions throughout the drill.
What does the Quick-Tune Spring System do?
The Quick-Tune system lets you adjust the amount of spring tension required to release the paddles. This allows the setup to be tuned for different handgun loads while staying within the target's stated velocity and energy limits.
What calibers can I use?
The Texas Star is designed for centerfire handgun use at a minimum of 10 yards, with a maximum rated muzzle velocity of 1,500 fps and maximum rated impact energy of 500 ft-lbs. Rifle use is not recommended.
Can I add the 10-target setup later?
Yes. The system is modular, and the 10-Target Adapter adds five more arms and paddles to the existing Texas Star hub.

Does this target ship painted?
No. Shoot Steel targets ship unpainted. White target paint can be used to create a high-contrast target face and make fresh impacts easier to identify.
