3/8" AR500 Steel Target Plate Rack

The 3/8" AR500 Steel Target Plate Rack is a reactive steel target system available in 4-target or 6-target configurations. Each setup includes 8" round targets, self-healing rubber strap kits, speed rack hangers and a pair of 2x4 gong stand brackets. The targets are CNC laser-cut from domestic 3/8" AR500 steel and hang from rubber straps for visible movement and strong audible feedback on impact. Standard 2x4 lumber is required and not included. Made in the USA.

The 8" rubber straps allow the targets to swing on impact while keeping the system simple and serviceable. Build the included stand with a standard 2x4 crossmember and four 2x4 legs, or use 2x4 Hybrid Gong Stand Brackets, sold separately, if you prefer conduit legs. Replacement components are available through the Swinging Target Hanger Kit. The 3/8" AR500 targets are rated for all centerfire handguns and short-action rifles through .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor at the proper minimum shooting distances.

Assembly

Build the stand using a standard 2x4 crossmember and four 2x4 legs with the included gong stand brackets. The recommended crossmember length is 48-60", with four legs between 60-80". Install the speed rack hangers and rubber strap kits, then hang the 8" targets across the crossmember. Carriage bolt and spring hardware for the speed rack hangers is not included.

If you prefer conduit legs with a 2x4 crossmember, use the 2x4 Hybrid Gong Stand Brackets, sold separately.

Safety and Usage

Minimum shooting distances:

• Centerfire handgun: 10 yards minimum
• Rifle at or below 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 100 yards minimum
• Rifle above 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 200 yards minimum
• Maximum rated cartridges: .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor
• Increase distance any time you observe pitting on the target face

Always shoot perpendicular to the target face. Use quality eye and ear protection. Inspect the target plates, rubber straps, hangers, brackets, lumber and mounting hardware before every session. Replace any plate that shows cratering or severe pitting and replace worn or damaged straps and hardware before continuing. Repaint regularly to track impacts and monitor surface health. No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition.

What is the difference between the 4-target and 6-target configurations?
The 4-target configuration includes four 8" AR500 targets with matching straps and hangers. The 6-target configuration includes six 8" AR500 targets with matching straps and hangers. Both include a pair of 2x4 gong stand brackets.

What calibers can I use with this plate rack?
The 3/8" AR500 targets are rated for all centerfire handguns and short-action rifles through .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor when used at the proper minimum shooting distances.

What makes the targets reactive?
Each 8" plate hangs from a self-healing rubber strap that allows the target to swing on impact, providing visible movement along with strong audible steel feedback.

Can I replace the rubber straps?
Yes. Rubber straps are wear components and can be replaced as needed. The Swinging Target Hanger Kit is available separately.

What do I need to complete the stand?
Standard 2x4 lumber is required and not included. The recommended setup uses a 48-60" crossmember and four 60-80" legs.

Can I use conduit legs instead of 2x4 legs?
Yes. Use the 2x4 Hybrid Gong Stand Brackets, sold separately, to build a stand with conduit legs and a standard 2x4 crossmember.

Does this target rack ship painted?
No. Shoot Steel targets ship unpainted. White target paint provides strong contrast downrange for tracking hits.

Is this product made in the United States?
Yes. This product is manufactured in the United States from domestic AR500 steel.

• Normal wear, pitting, cratering and target face degradation are not covered

To qualify for warranty coverage, targets must be used and maintained in accordance with Shoot Steel safety and distance guidelines, including:

• No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition
• Minimum recommended distances observed at all times
• Target mounted to Shoot Steel specifications
