Handgun Starter Package

The Handgun Starter Package gives pistol shooters a complete training setup built around both steel and cardboard targets. The package includes a 12"x20" 3/8" AR500 Static Steel Silhouette, Combo Stand, Static Target Hanger Kit and 100 Cardboard Training Targets. It gives you one setup for working speed, transitions and shot placement without hauling multiple stands to the range.

The 12"x20" steel target is CNC laser-cut from domestic 3/8" AR500 steel and manufactured in the United States. Steel gives you immediate audible hit feedback during handgun drills, while the 18"x30" dual-sided cardboard targets let you measure exact shot placement using A/B/C scoring zones or flip to the blank silhouette side for drills without visible scoring references. The Combo Stand supports a 2x4 upright for steel and two 2x2 uprights for cardboard, so both target types can be used from the same base.

Assembly

For the steel target setup, place a standard 2x4 upright in the center channel of the Combo Stand and install the Static Target Hanger Kit and 12"x20" steel target. For cardboard training, place two 2x2 uprights in the side channels and attach the cardboard target. The stand can support both setups at the same time.

Safety and Usage

The steel target is built for centerfire handgun training and should be used at the proper minimum shooting distance.

Minimum shooting distance:

• Centerfire handgun: 10 yards minimum
• Increase distance any time you observe pitting on the target face

Always shoot perpendicular to the target face. Use quality eye and ear protection. Inspect the plate before every session and replace any plate that shows cratering or severe pitting. Repaint regularly to track impacts and monitor surface health. No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition.

FAQs

Why combine steel and cardboard for handgun training?
Steel gives you immediate confirmation when you hit the plate, making it useful for speed and transition drills. Cardboard shows exactly where each round landed, making it better for tracking shot placement and accuracy.

Can I use steel and cardboard targets at the same time?
Yes. The Combo Stand accepts a 2x4 upright for the steel target and two 2x2 uprights for cardboard, allowing both target types to be used from the same base.

What lumber do I need?
Use a standard 2x4 upright for the steel target and two 2x2 uprights for cardboard targets. Lumber is not included.

How close can I shoot the steel target with a handgun?
Centerfire handguns should be used at a minimum distance of 10 yards. Increase distance if you observe pitting on the target face.

What cardboard targets are included?
The package includes 100 18"x30" Cardboard Training Targets. One side has A/B/C scoring zones and the reverse has a blank silhouette.

Does the steel target ship painted?
No. Shoot Steel targets ship unpainted. White target paint provides strong contrast for spotting impacts and makes it easy to repaint between strings.

Is this product made in the United States?
Yes. The AR500 steel target is manufactured in the United States from domestic AR500 steel.

• Welds: covered for 1 year from date of delivery
• Coverage includes weld integrity, materials and workmanship

• All components: covered against manufacturing and material defects for 90 days from date of purchase
• Coverage includes weld integrity, materials and workmanship
• Normal wear, pitting, cratering and target face degradation are not covered

To qualify for warranty coverage, targets must be used and maintained in accordance with Shoot Steel safety and distance guidelines, including:

• No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition
• Minimum recommended distances observed at all times
• Target mounted to Shoot Steel specifications
