The Static Target Hanger is the simplest way to make target swaps tool-free. Fix one hanger to each plate you want to run and switching between targets on your stand takes seconds with no wrenches required. The heavy-wall steel tube construction handles up to 1,000 ft-lbs of impact energy and is zinc-plated for weather and abrasion resistance, so it holds up to outdoor use year-round without rusting or degrading between sessions. The kit includes a Grade 5 carriage bolt, steel spring, lock nut and hanger. The shoulder of the carriage bolt locks into place via the cutout on the target, so mounting requires only a single wrench. Assembly is straightforward and takes a few minutes. The hanger works best with 8" and larger static targets. Targets as small as 5" will fit, but some of the hanger face will be exposed to direct hits at that size. Why get a dedicated hanger for each target plate?
With one hanger per plate, swapping targets requires no tools and no hardware adjustments at the range. Slide one plate off, slide the next on and keep shooting. For shooters who run multiple target sizes or switch between pistol and rifle plates during a session, a hanger on each plate is the cleanest way to eliminate that downtime entirely.
What size targets work with this hanger?
The hanger works best with 8" and larger static targets, which keep the hanger face fully covered and out of the direct line of fire. Targets as small as 5" will mount and function correctly, but some portion of the hanger face will be exposed to direct hits at that size. For 5" targets, monitor the hanger for wear more frequently.
What is the energy rating of 1,000 ft-lbs?
1,000 ft-lbs covers the full range of centerfire handgun cartridges and most common rifle cartridges at appropriate distances. It is not a caliber rating for the target plate, which is determined by the plate thickness and material. The hanger energy rating reflects the mechanical load the hanger hardware and spring are designed to absorb without deforming or failing.
Does assembly require tools?
Minor assembly is required. Installing the carriage bolt into the target cutout requires a single 3/4" wrench or adjustable wrench. Because the shoulder of the carriage bolt locks into the target cutout, you only need one tool rather than two. Once assembled per target plate, no tools are needed to swap targets on the stand.
Is this hanger compatible with all ShootSteel stands?
This hanger is designed for ShootSteel stands that accept 1/2" hardware. All ShootSteel stands use 1/2" hardware with a 3/4" wrench size. Confirm compatibility with your specific stand before ordering.
