Hard-packed soil and rocky ground make driving T-posts a chore. The T-Post Static Steel Target Stand solves that problem entirely. Set it on level ground, drop a standard T-post into the laser-cut groove, hang your target and start shooting. No sledgehammer, no digging, no post driver. The 24"x28" footprint and 1/4" steel HD legs provide a wide, stable base that resists tipping in gusty conditions, and the zinc-plated finish holds up to weather and moisture for year-round outdoor use.

Height is controlled by the T-post you use, not the stand. Run a full-length post for rifle zeroing at distance or cut one down to 4 feet for a lower sight picture and extra stability during pistol drills. The stand accepts standard 1.25 lb/ft and 1.33 lb/ft T-posts available at any farm, ranch or hardware store. Assembly takes under two minutes with two wrenches using the included 1/2" bolts and lock nuts. Target sold separately. Want to see it in action? Safety and Usage

Minimum shooting distances are determined by the target plate used with this stand:

  • Centerfire handgun: 10 yards minimum
  • Centerfire rifle at or below 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 100 yards minimum; increase distance if pitting is observed
  • Centerfire rifle above 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 200 yards minimum
  • Maximum rated cartridge for use with this stand: .308 Win / 6.5 Creedmoor

Always use quality eye and ear protection. Inspect the stand, post and target before every session. Replace any target plate that shows cratering or severe pitting.

FAQs

Why use this stand instead of driving a T-post directly into the ground?
Driving a T-post requires soft soil and a post driver or sledgehammer. On hard-packed ranges, rocky ground or any surface where driving posts is impractical, this stand gives you a stable platform that sets up in under two minutes without any driving tools. It also lets you move the target position between sessions without pulling posts, which matters on ranges where you want to vary your setup quickly.

What T-posts are compatible?
The stand accepts standard 1.25 lb/ft and 1.33 lb/ft steel T-posts available at farm, ranch and hardware stores. Because post profiles can vary slightly by brand, bring the upright bracket to the store to confirm fit before purchasing posts. T-post not included.

How do I control target height?
Height is determined by the length of the T-post you use. A full-length post gives you maximum height for rifle zeroing at distance. Cutting the post to approximately 4 feet lowers the sight picture and improves stability for pistol drills or lower-profile setups. Cut length is entirely up to you and the post can be trimmed with a standard angle grinder or metal-cutting saw.

Why are the HD legs 1/4" mild steel instead of AR400 or AR500?
The legs are structural components, not impact surfaces. They need to resist bending and mechanical stress from the weight of the stand and target, not direct bullet impacts. Mild steel at 1/4" provides the right combination of toughness and weldability for a stand leg. The AR-grade steel is reserved for the target plates where surface hardness under bullet impact is what matters.

Does assembly require tools?
Yes, initial assembly requires two wrenches to install the 1/2" bolts and lock nuts. Once assembled, regular setup and takedown require no tools. Assembly takes under two minutes.

Is a target included?
No. This is a stand-only product. Target plates are sold separately. The upright bracket is compatible with ShootSteel static-style targets.
