Three gongs. Three sizes. One bundle built for shooters who run hard cartridges and need targets that keep up. The 1/2" AR500 Gong Bundle pairs a 10", 8" and 4" round gong, giving you a natural progression from a forgiving warm-up target down to a 4" challenge plate that earns every hit at distance. All three are cut from 1/2" AR500 steel, rated for all handgun cartridges and rifle cartridges up to .338 Lapua Magnum at 200 yards.
Every gong is CNC laser-cut to minimize the heat-affected zone and preserve hardness all the way to the edge of each plate. That edge integrity is what separates these from cheaper plasma-cut gongs that soften at the perimeter and pit faster under sustained fire. At 1/2" thickness these targets handle the impact energy of magnum rifle cartridges that thinner plates simply cannot absorb without cratering. Targets ship unpainted and without chain or mounting hardware. Add the 12" rubber chain kit to complete your setup.

Safety and Usage
Minimum shooting distances:
- Centerfire handgun: 10 yards minimum
- Centerfire rifle at or below 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 100 yards minimum; increase distance if pitting is observed
- Centerfire rifle above 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 200 yards minimum; increase distance if pitting is observed
- Maximum rated cartridge: .338 Lapua Magnum at 200 yards minimum
- Standard lead-core, copper-jacketed ammunition only
Always use quality eye and ear protection. Inspect all gongs and mounting hardware before every session. Replace any plate that shows cratering or severe pitting. Repaint regularly to track impacts and monitor surface health.
FAQs
Why three sizes in one bundle?
The 10", 8" and 4" combination gives you a complete training progression on a single stand or across multiple hang points. Start on the 10" to warm up and confirm zero, move to the 8" for standard drills and finish on the 4" when you want to push your shot placement and trigger discipline. At rifle distances the 4" is a genuine challenge that rewards clean fundamentals and penalizes everything else.
What calibers are these gongs rated for?
All centerfire handgun cartridges at 10 yards minimum and centerfire rifles up to .338 Lapua Magnum at 200 yards minimum using standard lead-core, copper-jacketed ammunition. For rifle cartridges at or below 3,000 fps muzzle velocity, 100 yards is the minimum. Increase distance if pitting is observed at any range.
Why 1/2" AR500 instead of 3/8"?
The 1/2" thickness is what makes these gongs viable for magnum rifle cartridges. A 3/8" plate handles pistol and short-action rifle loads well but will crater under the sustained impact energy of cartridges like .338 Lapua Magnum. The extra thickness absorbs that energy without pitting, keeping all three gongs in service through high round counts at distance.
Why CNC laser-cut instead of plasma cut?
Laser-cutting controls the heat-affected zone at the cut edge, preserving AR500 hardness all the way to the perimeter. Plasma cutting introduces significantly more heat, softening the edge and reducing plate life under repeated impact. On gong targets that take centered hits and edge hits equally, that edge hardness directly affects how long the plate lasts.
Do these gongs include chain and mounting hardware?
No. The gongs ship without chain, quick links or mounting hardware. Add the 12" rubber chain kit at checkout to complete your hanging setup.
Does it ship painted?
No. The gongs ship as bare steel so you can apply your preferred color. White and bright orange provide the best downrange visibility, especially on the 4" plate at distance.
