3/8" AR500 Static Target Package

The AR500 Static Target Package includes everything you need to get shooting except a standard 2x4. One static target stand, one static target hanger, one 3/8" AR500 target and all mounting hardware ship together so you are not piecing together a setup from multiple orders. The 3/8" AR500 plate is CNC laser-cut from domestic AR500 steel for consistent hardness, true edges and controlled splatter. Rated for all centerfire handguns and short-action rifles including .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor at the distances below. For rifle use, staking the stand is recommended to minimize movement from high-energy impacts.

Assembly

All components use standard 1/2" hardware. A 3/4" wrench or socket and a second wrench to hold the nut are all the tools required. The hanger uses a cutout that locks the bolt in place, making the initial setup straightforward. Basic assembly required.

Safety and Usage

Minimum shooting distances:

• Centerfire handgun: 10 yards minimum
• Rifle at or below 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 100 yards minimum
• Rifle above 3,000 fps muzzle velocity: 200 yards minimum
• Increase distance any time you observe pitting on the target face

For rifle use, stake the stand to minimize movement between shots. Always shoot perpendicular to the target face. Use quality eye and ear protection. Inspect the plate before every session and replace any plate that shows cratering or severe pitting. Repaint regularly to track impacts and monitor surface health. No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition.

What calibers is this package rated for?
All centerfire handguns at 10 yards minimum and short-action rifle cartridges including .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor at 100 yards minimum. For rifles above 3,000 fps muzzle velocity, increase to 200 yards minimum and monitor the plate for pitting after each session.

What size target should I choose?
The 8" round is a great starting point for pistol drills and transitions. The 10" and 12" round give you a larger feedback zone for mixed pistol and carbine use. The 12"x20" silhouette adds a realistic human profile for defensive training and IDPA-style drills.

Do I need to buy anything else to get started?
Just a standard 2x4 upright, available at any hardware or home improvement store. All mounting hardware is included. Paint is sold separately.

Why CNC laser-cut instead of plasma-cut?
CNC laser-cutting controls the heat-affected zone more precisely than plasma cutting, preserving hardness at the plate edge. The result is a cleaner perimeter, longer plate life and more predictable splatter behavior on impact.

Does this target ship painted?
No. All ShootSteel targets ship unpainted. White and bright orange offer the best contrast downrange for tracking hits.

Is this product made in the United States?
Yes. This package is manufactured in the United States from domestic AR500 steel.

To qualify for warranty coverage, targets must be used and maintained in accordance with ShootSteel safety and distance guidelines, including:

• No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition
• Minimum recommended distances observed at all times
• Target mounted to ShootSteel specifications
