Short Range Rifle Steel Target Stand

The Short Range Rifle Steel Target Stand is built to outlast every wood-upright stand you have ever burned through. The upright is 3/8" AR500 steel, CNC laser-cut, and the legs are 1/4" AR400, giving you the widest base in the ShootSteel lineup for rock-solid stability under high-volume pistol and rifle fire. No 2x4 to replace. No mild steel uprights that get notched and weakened over time. Just an all-steel stand that takes direct hits and keeps standing.

A heavy-duty die spring connects the target to the upright, absorbing impact energy on every hit and keeping the plate upright and responsive for fast follow-up shots. The included Slide-Lock Hanger is compatible with any ShootSteel static-style target, and additional hangers can be added to run multiple plates on the same stand without tools. Safety and Usage

Minimum shooting distances and caliber ratings are determined by the target plate used with this stand, not the stand itself. Consult our Cartridge Guide to select the correct plate for your caliber.

Always use quality eye and ear protection. Inspect the stand, upright, spring and hanger before every session. Replace any component that shows structural damage or deformation. Repaint target plates regularly to track impacts and monitor surface health.

FAQs

Why is an all-steel upright better than a wood or mild steel one?
Wood uprights crack, warp and get shot through. Mild steel uprights get notched by bullet splash and weaken over time. The 3/8" AR500 upright on the Short Range Rifle is the same hardened steel used on target plates. It handles direct hits and sustained splash without degrading, which means you are replacing target plates when they wear out, not rebuilding the stand every few sessions.

What does the die spring do?
The heavy-duty die spring connects the target plate to the upright and absorbs impact energy on every shot. Without it, the full force of each hit transfers directly into the stand hardware and the upright connection. The spring protects those joints through high round counts and keeps the target upright and properly positioned for fast follow-up shots without the plate swinging or drifting out of position.

Which targets are compatible with this stand?
The Slide-Lock Hanger works with any ShootSteel static-style target. Use our Cartridge Guide to select the right plate thickness for your caliber. Additional Slide-Lock Hangers can be added to run multiple plates on the same stand.

Can I run multiple targets on one stand?
Yes. The stand accepts additional Slide-Lock Hangers so you can mount more than one plate without purchasing a second stand. Additional hangers are available separately.

How difficult is assembly and transport?
The two-piece upright assembles and breaks down quickly with no special tools. The wide AR400 leg base provides stability in the field without adding excessive weight, keeping the system manageable for solo setup and takedown.

To qualify for warranty coverage, products must be used and maintained in accordance with ShootSteel safety and distance guidelines, including:

• No steel-core, armor-piercing or tracer ammunition
• Minimum recommended distances observed at all times
• Targets mounted to ShootSteel specifications
