Description
The 1/2″ AR550 Steel Target Plate Rack delivers highly reactive, audible feedback for a rewarding range session. A modern alternative to the classic speed rack, this system is designed for both training and competition, offering durability and versatility.
What’s Included
-
(6) 8″ round AR550 steel plates, 1/2″ thick
-
(6) Rubber strap kits for swinging mount
-
(6) Speed rack hangers (carriage bolt/spring not included)
-
(1) Pair of 2×4 gong brackets
Note: 2×4 lumber is not included.
Reactive Performance
Mounted with heavy-duty rubber straps, each plate swings and rings loudly upon impact. The rubber is self-healing after direct hits, but replacement strap kits are available to extend system life. If you’d like even more reactive options, add the Swinging Target Hanger Kit (sold separately).
Stand Setup
Set up with common 2×4s or conduit for a stable stand. With the included gong brackets, a 2×4-only frame works great; cut the cross beam to 48–60 inches and the four legs to 60–80 inches. For maximum longevity, upgrade to conduit legs with our 2×4 Hybrid Brackets.
AR550 Advantage
Rated for the same calibers and distances as AR500, AR550 provides superior hardness and resists pitting more effectively—especially against high-velocity rounds like .223 / 5.56 NATO. Each plate features a Hardox coating for enhanced weather and abrasion resistance.
Durability and Safety
Precision CNC laser-cut from 1/2″ AR550 steel for maximum life and edge quality. Maintain safe shooting distances and avoid steel-core or armor-piercing ammo. Ships unpainted.
